Description of game:

The girls were all set to go and were positive about the game even though they knew it would be tough, especially as they had a few Year 9’s supporting and QEHS were a full Year 10 team. QEHS were extremely quick from the centre and the play was a lot quicker. TGA held their own and made some good solid interceptions. This enabled the girls to move the ball up the court, until QEHS were able to defend well and turn the ball over. QEHS were able to score a few goals in succession, moving very quickly and dodging around our players. TGA were not making it easy for them and were able to get the ball into the goal circle but unable to score. Just before the final whistle went, TGA were in possession and passing the ball around the circle. They were able to pass it in to Kacey who was able to shoot taking the score to 1-8 after the first quarter.

TGA kept the team the same for the second quarter as the players were settling into the game. QEHS made a couple of changes and we were straight back on. It was a QEHS centre to start and again, they took it quickly moving the ball straight to the goal circle. TGA were strong in defence, some good interceptions made by Izzy in the goal circle as well as Caitlin supporting. Both Caitlin and Daisy supported the centre passes, to enable TGA to keep possession and move forward. Sadly TGA were unable to score successfully, so at half time it was 1-14.

Changes were made at half time; Jess came off as centre and Daisy moved there. Sianna moved to wing defence and Mya came on at wing attack. Again QEHS had the centre to start and were able to score. Daisy took a strong centre, with Rhiannon dodging successfully to receive. They were able to get the ball into the goal circle, with attempts made by both Kacey and Rhiannon however QEHS then got a backline pass. Again some excellence defence by TGA, fighting for any lose balls and not giving it. Mya worked well supporting the centre passes as well as feeding the circle well, but sadly the shots were not going in. At the end of the third quarter it was 1-20.

Jess came back on at centre for the final quarter, with Daisy moving back to wing defence and Sianna coming off. TGA had the first centre and they will quick from the whistle enabling to get the ball into the goal circle where Rhiannon scored. It was an excellent centre and fantastic goal. It seemed to give the girls more spirit, defending well and managing to turn the ball over again. QEHS were able to catch the rebound and went down to their end to score. TGA were strong again in defence, turning the ball over and Izzy throw an excellent ball that was able to then go to Kacey in the goal circle where she scored. Back to centre and with strong defence from both teams the ball kept going backwards and forwards until QEHS were successful. TGA did not give up, and were able to get the ball into the goal circle one last time to score again from Kacey. The whistle went to end the game with a final score of 4-24. Well played girls!
