Description of game:
TGA were all set and ready to go at the start of the first quarter, against a very strong N.K. team. TGA had a slow start however were putting in all their effort as the game progressed. TGA were able to turn over the ball, with some excellent defending from Marshella Stevens in the D. N.K. had some very strong shooters, even with the excellent defending from TGA were able to score. TGA were able to use the back line passes to get the ball down the court, however N.K. was able to turn it over again.
At the end of the first quarter, some changes were made to the team bring on Jamie at goal keeper. The girls took on the information from the team talk at quarter time, making sure they were sticking with their players well and marking the ball if their player had it. There was some excellent dodging into space made by Ellie, allowing the ball to be moved down the court. Erin was also supporting the mid court as goal attack, trying to get the ball into the end third.
At half time the girls had been working very hard and again a few changes were made. Paris was moved to centre to give Ellie a break, with Sophie coming on into wing attack. Isla was also moved to goal keeper, with Carla coming on into wing defence. The girls were putting in all their effort to try and turn over the ball when it was N.K.’s centre, and working hard to keep possession when it was there ball. Some excellent defending in the D by Marshella was stopping the N.K. shooters having shots on goal.
The final quarter saw Sophie come back on into wing defence and Ellie come back on into wing attack. The girls did not give up throughout the whole game, settling in well to how each other play and making some positive moves down the court to outwit N.K. Carla made some excellent interceptions, with Paris supporting throughout the full court.
Overall, the girls put in all their effort, taking on tips and coaching advice at each quarter time and applying it into the next quarter. They were gelling well as a team as the match went on and had a positive attitude throughout and never gave up. Well done girls in your first Netball fixture!
